A division of Patrick Corporation, Patrick Defence Logistics provided Logistics and Garrison support services to the Australian Defence Force and Government sectors both in Australia and internationally. This business is now a Toll holdings business unit.
  

Position:      Operations Manager, Solomon Islands.

February 2004 - July 2004
This role entailed the completion and implementation of a full Supply Chain, OH&S, and HACCP review for the Patrick operations in the Solomon Islands as well as the daily operational management of the in-country operations. This operation was in support of the Australian Government Assistance Mission (RAMSI) to the Solomon Islands Government. The support entailed services to the Australian Defence department, The Australia Federal Police and the Solomon islands Police force.

The services included:

  • Large scale Hospitality and catering services

  • Accommodation Management

  • Cleaning and Estate management services

  • Helicopter and heavy lift air services

  • Remote site transport (sea & air services)

  • Local procurement services

  • International cargo and passenger management.

  • Medical support including emergency services.

  • Reduction in Air freight volumes.

The Patrick Corporation was an integrated network of freight logistics operations that deliver seamless and efficient transport solutions across all modes - rail, road, sea and air. Patrick Logistics specialised in providing a full range of logistic and supply chain solutions including integrated transport, warehousing and distribution to a number of different market segments. This business is now a Toll holdings business unit. 

Position:      State Warehousing Manager NSW. 

July 2000 - February 2004.  (Redundancy due to restructure)

This role entailed the full operational and financial management of the Ambient & Dangerous goods Distribution Centers in NSW. All Distribution Centers were their own profit centers with a combined annual operational budget.
Most facilities operated a two shift, five days per week operation with staff including both permanent and casual labour.  

 

Facilities managed while at Patrick included:

  • Ingleburn - 50,000 pallet spaces - Ambient Storage - 100 staff

  • Arndell Park - 30,000 pallet spaces - Dangerous / Non Hazardous - 60 staff

  • Prospect - 30,000 pallet spaces - Frozen and Chilled storage - 60 Staff

  • Blacktown - 20,000 pallet spaces - Frozen and Chilled storage - 20 staff

  • Hoxton Park - 15,000 pallet spaces - Ambient Storage  - 30 staff  Girraween - 10,000 pallet spaces - Ambient Storage- 25 staff

  • Glendenning - 7,200   pallet spaces - Ambient Storage - 15 staff
     

Key Achievements:

  • Merger of two companies (TDG and United) warehouse operations. 

  • Cost to server analysis for DG clients completed. 

  • Facility utilisation rates achieved of 90% (state based).

  • Zero lost time for two years due to any Industrial issues. 

  • Implementation of over five major new contracts. 

  • P&L performance that exceeded company targets.
